The U.S. Forest Service is proposing to build a new recreation area in the middle of Kyle Canyon in order to provide more recreation facilities and also to take some pressure off the upper canyons. It seems that Mt. Charleston has become increasingly popular as a recreation destination for the residents of the Las Vegas valley. It’s getting to the point where demand is outrunning available recreation space and causing overcrowding and mis-use of private property. The U.S. Department of the Interior already has approved $27 million for the project, from revenues generated by the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act. Tourist traffic is expected to increase beyond the present 2 million a year when new Las Vegas homes are built at the entrance to the canyon deep in the northwest section of the valley. Focus Property Group paid $510 million for 1710 acres of Las Vegas real estate at the foot of the mountain and thousands of Las Vegas homes will be built there soon.

More than 300,000 rainbow trout will be stocked in reservoirs and streams in the Southern Nevada Region this spring and summer. The fish will come from NDOW hatcheries in other regions of the state and from private out-of-state hatcheries. LAKE MEAD — Fishing should continue to be very good for striped bass and channel catfish through summer despite the lake’s record-low water level. Although fishing should be fair for largemouth bass, they have been adversely affected by the water level. LAKE MOHAVE — The outlook for Lake Mohave is excellent. The water level has been relatively stable and anglers should find good fishing for striped bass, including fairly large numbers of fish around 1 pound. Boaters should have good success by drifting baits such as anchovies and squid. EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — Located east of Pioche in Spring Valley State Park, this is a popular family getaway from spring through summer. The trout fishing is consistently good, the camping facilities are first-class and the daytime temperatures are pleasant. Heavy rains in early 2005 should mean a full reservoir through at least mid-summer. ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — The reservoir is located in Echo Canyon State Park, east of Pioche. There is an nice campground in the park. For the first time in many years, the reservoir was almost full heading into spring. Depending on weather conditions, this might continue until mid-summer. Because of the high lake levels, angler access should be much better than average this spring. Rainbow trout fishing is expected to be good through the spring and early summer months thanks to plants. Plans call for 10,000 rainbows to be planted this spring. URBAN PARK PONDS — Ponds at Floyd Lamb State Park, Lorenzi Park and Sunset Park in Las Vegas, Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City and Hafen Park Pond in Mesquite will be stocked monthly from mid-April through summer with channel catfish and rainbow trout in the winter.MS Las Vegas Real Estate reminds you once again that Las Vegas is a real city with outdoor recreation that takes you as far away from casinos as you want to be.

At the end of April, the Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas will make equestrian history. For the first time in 45 years of competition, the world championship finals of both jumping and dressage will be held together as one equestrian mega-event. Las Vegas Events approached FEI, the international body governing equestrian sport, and asked it to combine the jumping championship with the final of its World Cup Dressage series. With about a month remaining until the competition, about 90 percent of the events’ 85,000 tickets have been purchased. So far more than 1,200 tickets have been purchased by foreign fans from a dozen different countries. MS Las Vegas Real Estate would like to remind you once again that Las Vegas is a real city with a broad range of cultural and entertainment options at your disposal.

Kyle Busch is a Las Vegas local and a member of the Durango High School class of 2002. He is also an impressive rookie race car driver on the NASCAR Nextel Cup circuit and his older brother (Kurt) is the reigning NASCAR champion. But on Thursday of this week Kyle was on hand at Spring Valley High School to give safe driving advice to impressionable teens. Kyle’s words of wisdom? Street racing is stupid and dangerous, don’t ever drink and drive, cellular phones are a dangerous distraction, and focusing on the stereo instead of the road is not recommended. MS Las Vegas Real Estate would like to thank Kyle for taking the time this week to make a difference in the local community.

MS Las Vegas Real Estate takes every opportunity to let people know that life in Las Vegas is not anything like so many people think. This is a real city with culture and diversity and little league and half-way decent pizza! Here’s another example of the real Las Vegas. Pacific Properties has teamed up with Las Vegas Track Club to help present the second annual Red Rock 20k Classic and Relay race. The event, to be held today, features relay teams of four runners racing along a course through Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Cash prizes totaling $20,000 will be awarded. The nonprofit track club, which has been sponsoring events in Southern Nevada for more than 35 years, uses proceeds from races to assist charities in the Las Vegas Valley.

A member of the Busch family will start on the pole in today’s NASCAR Nextel Cup race at California Speedway. But it won’t be reigning series champion Kurt Busch. Nineteen year-old rookie and Las Vegas native Kyle Busch captured the top spot Saturday for the Auto Club 500, breaking a 53 year series record for the youngest pole winner. MS Las Vegas Real Estate congratulates Kyle Busch of Las Vegas! Kyle won five races and six poles last year in the NASCAR Busch Series, finishing second in the standings. We are looking forward to many exciting times with Kyle at our own Las Vegas Motor Speedway!

Stars Live 365 is a brand new venture on the Las Vegas Strip that literally puts you in touch with famous people! For anyone who’s been on the Las Vegas Strip, it’s hard to miss the giant Coca-Cola bottle at the Showcase Mall in front of the MGM. Stars Live 365 has set up a booth right next to Coca-Cola that faces the strip and some of the heaviest pedestrian traffic in the world. Who sits in the booth? Famous athletes and other celebrities that charge a fee for a personal greeting, autograph, pictures and memorabilia. This week Pete Rose was on hand to greet his fans. Past participants include Steve Garvey and Kenny Stabler. Plans are in the works to include the cast from Dallas as well as the Brady Bunch. MS Las Vegas Real Estate would like to suggest a purchase at the Residences at MGM Grand. That way, you’ll be a short walk from your next autograph!

Tiger Woods purchased a parcel of land at 3 Creek Ranch, a golf-club development under construction in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Tiger turned pro in 1996 and has earned 45 million dollars on the tour alone, so I think he’s able to afford it no problem. Of course, it’s an estate-home lot and rumors peg the parcel at between three and five acres. It’s a pretty nice neighborhood (when it’s not snowing) and neighbors include Harrison Ford, George Soros and Vice President Dick Cheney. These guys are better known as card carrying members of the Wyoming 3H Club…..as in Hollywood, Hedge Funds and Haliburton (just kidding). In any event, 3 Creek Ranch will become the area’s first private golf club when it opens this summer (which is probably about 4 weeks long). Plenty of parcels left! Don’t miss out on golf community living….Wyoming style. Yes, there’s a good reason it took this long to build a course up there. No worries, Tiger has a mansion on another course already…..in Windermere, Florida. Give us a call at MS Las Vegas Real Estate and we’ll put you in touch with a top-notch Wyoming realtor!

If you love sports, Las Vegas is a great city to live in. We have a wide variety of sporting events that draw huge crowds season after season. MS Las Vegas Real Estate is continuing the process of educating potential residents about the “new” Las Vegas. More than you could imagine, a Las Vegas home means well-rounded living that offers an incredible array of lifestyle choices. The topic today is sports and by that I don’t mean sitting for hours on end in the sports book at Caesars Palace. I’m talking about sporting events to enjoy with your friends and/or family members. I’m talking about real home teams that you can follow and enjoy that play in beautiful facilities. Let’s start with the Las Vegas Gladiators of the AFL. If you like Arena Football, it doesn’t get any more exciting than this. How about hockey? The Las Vegas Wranglers just played in front of 7,200 fans the other night in the awesome Orleans Arena. Baseball? Los Angeles Dodgers farm team Las Vegas 51’s play at Cashman Field every year to huge crowds. The NBA plays exhibition games at the Thomas & Mack Arena every year. Rodeo fan? Las Vegas is a top venue for PBR bull riding events throughout the year and the NFR Rodeo every December. The PGA tour stops in Las Vegas every year and golf fans from all over the valley swarm the fairways. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway has a Nextel Cup event every year, but many people don’t realize that there are race events at the track every month (Drag racing and motorcycle racing just to name two). Last but certainly not least, UNLV has a fantastic sports program and lots of loyal Las Vegas fans. UNLV basketball and football are just the beginning of what’s on offer from the university. I probably left out a number of other great sporting events. Locals, jump in and help me out! Owning a Las Vegas home and living a “Las Vegas lifestyle” can be anything you want it to be. If you love to attend live sporting events, real estate in Las Vegas is something you really should consider.

The Las Vegas Marathon was run yesterday on a sunny but windy day that challenged the runners, especially during the second half of the race. Gilbert Koech of Kenya won the 26.2 mile event with a time of 2 hours, 13 minutes and 44 seconds. First place prize money was $25,000. Olga Kovpotina of Ukraine won the women’s event with a record setting time of 2 hours, 31 minutes and 53 seconds. More than 8,000 runners from all 50 states and 30 countries competed for $100,000 in total prize money. KB Home is building a 4.8 acre equestrian themed park near the corner of Horse Drive and Bradley Road in the Centennial Hills section of the Las Vegas valley. The project is slated for completion in about six months and the opening should coincide with some of the finest riding weather in southern Nevada next spring. The horse park will give Las Vegas home owners a place to enjoy the views of the nearby mountains while riding in a gorgeous park setting with top quality equestrian facilities. The park will make equestrians comfortable by featuring pull-through parking stalls with low dust producing surfacing, nearby hitching posts, a jug filler conveniently located in the parking lot and ?chat? trails leading from the parking area into the arena area. The park has ideal trail and arena surfacing for horses, a shaded corral, plus watering stations and trails that are separated from the roadway. Site visitors will be treated to lit trails, and two of the three arenas will have bleachers and lights for nighttime use. MS Las Vegas Real Estate would be happy to acquaint you with Centennial Hills real estate.

For those of you that don’t realize it, Las Vegas has one of the most awesome NASCAR facilities in the United States. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is about to fire up for it’s annual Nextel Cup event, but tickets are almost gone! The UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 is to be held this year on March 13th (couldn’t they have come up with a shorter name?). The race has sold out every year for seven years, there’s nothing new about that. It’s just that the race has never sold out this far in advance! Can you believe it? Only a few hundred single seat tickets remain out of 145,000. The track is owned by Speedway Motorsports Inc. Now there’s a valuable piece of Las Vegas real estate!

Like it or not, Tiger Woods is returning to the top echelon of golf. Any one who watched him play at Sherwood in December and Torrey Pines this past weekend would have to agree that he is back in form. It appears that those famous “swing adjustments” have been pretty much dialed in. He definitely seems ready to go hunting for majors in 2005. Tiger’s play was far from perfect at Torrey and his putter is still giving him trouble, but his will to win and grace under pressure remain fully in tact. This is not the first time we’ve seen Tiger win a tournament with less than his “A” game. I personally enjoy watching him the most when he has to grind his way to the trophy. It just reminds me that ultimately, winning is 98% mental. By the way, Tiger recorded his very first PGA Tour victory right here in Las Vegas! Why not buy a Las Vegas home right on that very course! Seriously though, golf community living in Las Vegas is some of the very best in the country. Contact MS Las Vegas Real Estate at 888-349-2595 if you’re curious.

Christina Kwan is really Michelle’s cousin and she is beautiful, but that’s not why she’s a knockout. Christina is a boxer, and I wouldn’t joke around with her about it if I were you. Christina Kwan is the world amateur champion in the 95 pound class. The 2008 Olympics will be the first to include women’s boxing and Christina is looking to land some solid punches and the gold medal. She defends her title in Colorado in March at the U.S. National Championships. Her nickname is “School Girl” because Christina attends the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She’s about to get her master’s degree. Pretty incredible girl.
