State Senate and Assembly Honor Las Vegas at 100!
Posted: February 23rd, 2005 - Written By: Michelle SterlingThe State of Nevada officially saluted Las Vegas yesterday by passing a resolution in honor of our 100th birthday. The city’s 100th anniversary (May 15) commemorates the land auction in which the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad sold lots for the 110-acre Las Vegas townsite. The railroad, owned by Sen. William A. Clark of Montana, had just completed a line between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Las Vegas is Spanish for “the meadows” and the first settlers laid down roots in the early 1800’s. MS Las Vegas Real Estate wishes Las Vegas a happy 100th!
